THE CABIN

The cabin is nestled in the woods on the property where we live.
It is peaceful and quiet... unless you count the chirpy birds.
Or maybe a little commotion from the wild turkeys.
Or the thundering of deer feet.
Or raccoons and possums snooping around.
Or the bullfrogs croaking. Or the catfish splashing around.
Or rain falling on the metal roof.
The neighbor cows are pretty quiet, though.

The cabin has a mini great room with a full-size futon, kitchen, and dining table. The queen bed is in the separate bedroom, where the bathroom and TV are located (the TV is not in the bathroom!). There's a hiking trail to the top of the little mountain, and cabineers are welcome to feed the fish (catch and release has been temporarily halted due to the age of the catfish - some are over 20 years old! - and reduction in fish numbers in general, courtesy of some pesky intruders...).

The covered front porch, perfect for enjoying the mountain breeze and summer rain, faces the canopied cabin road. The side deck faces the ponds, which can be seen thru the pines. And the back deck, providing a view of the cows just across the fence, is perfect for taking in the spectacular sunsets, stars, and an occasional rainbow. Heaven really isn't so far off....

Amenities include AC (and heat!), internet (45 Mbps), smart TV with YouTube TV/Blu-ray DVD player, DVDs, CD player (with CDs!), paper products, linens, landline phone, and more! The kitchen includes a small fridge and stove/oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots & pans, dishes, and more. There is also a charcoal grill and charcoal. No smoking INSIDE the cabin, tho!

Nearby attractions include the New River, New River State Park (a mile down the road; hiking and river access), Zaloo's Canoes (< 5 miles), Blue Ridge Parkway (5 miles), Mount Jefferson (9.5 miles), Jefferson, West Jefferson (shopping and eating!), Boone (30 miles).

The cabin looks a bit like a dollhouse. According to one guest, that's precisely why she loved it....
